Israel Adesanya

If ever there was an athlete just waiting to explode on to the international MMA scene, it could well be Nigerian-born Israel ‘The Stylebender’ Adesanya. At just 27 years old, the 6’3 New Zealand-based middleweight has been tearing it up in both professional MMA and elite-level kickboxing ever since he emerged under the Wu Lin Feng (kickboxing) banner back in late 2011.

With a dazzling array of strikes in his arsenal, Adesanya made a major impression on the kickboxing world in particular with an enthralling battle against top-ranked star Simon Marcus while competing for the Chinese outfit Kunlun Fight. That enticed GLORY (kickboxing) to offer ‘Izzy’ a multi-fight deal that has seen him go on to compete for the Middleweight title, narrowly losing a hotly contested decision against Dutchman Jason Wilnis just last year.

In terms of mixed martial arts, Adesanya remains a perfect 9-0, a statistic made even more appealing due to the fact every one of those fights ended in the same manner – by (T)KO. Despite the fact his MMA career has been solely confined to his now-native New Zealand and China, Adesanya has succeeded in raising eyebrows internationally, and with wins over the likes of 40+ fight Ukrainian veteran Vladimir Katyhin, dangerous Russian Dibir Zagirov (15-5), as well as Chinese favourites Gele Qing and Kenan Song, Adesanya has proven himself at a very respectable level.

Not content with that, Adesanya can also boast a 5-1 record in pro boxing, all bouts coming within a 12-month period between late 2014-15. A striker’s striker, Adesanya’s fierce competitive schedule tells it’s own tale – Adesanya likes to stay busy, and is prepared to fight anyone, any time.

A promoter’s dream, the charismatic and exciting Adesanya would be an outstanding coup for any major, international MMA organization – though they may have to wait out the ‘Stylebender’s’ contract with the outstanding GLORY organization first…

All I would say after that is this: happy bidding!
